John’s early years were spent living in a variety of states as the son of a naval officer. Moving to Seattle in high school, he attended O’Dea High School and then Washington State University. He continued his education, earning an MBA from Notre Dame and a Certificate of Business Intelligence from the University of Washington. A person of enormous influence in his personal and professional life was his grandmother, Elizabeth Smith Platt; Elizabeth was a college graduate (University of Idaho, 1930), a banker, and a business owner. A woman of impeccable integrity, she taught John the importance and responsibility of being a fiduciary.
Away from the office, you will find John spending time with his wife and daughters, enjoying both indoor and outdoor activities, and – early mornings – he’s at the Washington Athletic Club playing racquetball and handball.
